To save you doing the maths I have added a BMI calculator here.......
- over 30 is considered obese.
- between 25 and 29.9 is considered overweight.
- between 18.5 and 24.9 is considered a healthy bmi.
- under 18.5 is consider underweight.
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a number calculated from a person's weight and height. This does not measure body fat directly, although it is an inexpensive way of screening for weight categories that may lead to health problems.
Other methods to measure body fatness include skinfold thickness measurements (with calipers), underwater weighing, bioelectrical impedance, dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA), and isotope dilution. However, these methods are not always readily available, and they are either expensive or need highly trained personnel.
After checking your BMI is it what you expected?
Is it higher or lower than you expected it to be?
